Cobra Kai Season 4 Reviews: First up I would like to say thank you to Netflix for granting me the screeners to this entire new season they’ve asked me to not spill spoilers therefore this review is spoiler free.
You see as a huge fan of this show I was going into the season 4 cautiously wondering there’s got to be a point of diminishing return right where the storytelling quality might go stagnant or take a nose dive but nope I was wrong and I’m glad I was wrong because this is one show that’s consistently becoming more and more compelling with every passing season.
My overall reaction to having seen this entire Season 4 is it’s more engaging more intense more hilarious more badass and the drama is also more riveting with unexpected twists and turns and yes more sense is seeing these different styles collide is like witnessing which combination of magic potions could actually work and guess what it all comes down to how that collision affects the characters the writers could always find the humanity in all of them so much so that we even feel pity for Chris and Silver it’s unbelievable what a rollercoaster ride this season 4 is.
The fans have nothing to worry about written and executed by Josh Hill John Hurwitz and Hayden Schrossberg cobra kai takes place 30 years after the events of the 1984 all valley karate tournament with the continuation of the inescapable conflict between Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence.
What to expect from Cobra Kai Season 4?
Cobra Kai Season 4 finds the miyagido and Eagle Gang dojos joining forces to take down Cobra Kai at the all valley under 18 karate tournament and whoever loses must hang up their gas.
Samantha and Miguel try to maintain their dojo alliance and Robbie goes all in at cobra kai the fate of the valley has never been more precarious what tricks does Kreese have up his sleeve can Daniel and Johnny bury their decades-long hatchet to defeat Kreese or will Cobra Kai become the face of karate in the valley starring Ralph Macchio, William Zapka, Courtney Hanguler, Sholom Arduinia, Tanner Buchanan and Peyton list exactly produced by Will smith and James Lassiter.
Okay let’s go through some of the characters without giving too many details away so I’m gonna do this from a burst eye view sort of a deal if you’re wondering about miyagido and eagle fang teaming up well let’s just say that the first few episodes are all about that it’s amusing and entertaining watching Johnny and Daniel try and try and try and try to find some common ground what you gotta understand is that each of them feels that the other person’s style is inferior so it’s up to them to convince the other person that their styles can be useful in preparing these kids for the tournament.
And boy calling it a trial and error process would be generous the first few episodes of Cobra Kai Season 4 are also the funniest because you can sense Daniel and Johnny’s insecurity kicks in when Miguel and Samantha start to find the opposite style slightly appealing meanwhile Chris and silver their difficulties of working together has less to do with style and more to do with philosophy or approach they both have strong conviction in Cobra Kai’s creed so there’s no problem there but it’s more about dominance or putting your foot down on who has the bigger bark or bite.
Their beliefs might be similar but their future vision for cobra kai is where the lanes diverge Thomas in Griffith is back as terry silver he reprises his role like a man who’s filling a void in his life one can even argue that the dynamics between him and martin cove is a lot more interesting than ralph and William I mean the past continues to haunt all four characters.
But there’s deep tragedy and personal obligation behind the anger that motivates both silver and Kreese okay let’s talk about the kids or the students I should say i’m not allowed to share with you details about any potential romance so you’ll have to find that out for yourselves but one can describe it as juicy.
Oh my god! I never thought in a million years that I would see Robbie donning the cobra Kaiji but that dude wears it like he owns the place tori and Samantha still hate each other’s guts but things get a little bit more complicated in this Cobra Kai Season 4.
As I implied earlier the writers always find a way to make us feel sympathy even for the bad guys so Terry’s social economic condition still plays a big part in putting their hatred in shades of grey as for Miguel he’s on a path to finding himself and figuring out what’s best for him.
I know it sounds cliched but I think it’s the right move considering the fact that actor sholu is actually very skilled at unlocking his dramatic chops the new kid on the block Kenny is a real treat young talented actor Dallas Dupree young is wickedly good as the scared little mouse who’s getting bullied Kenny’s development in Cobra Kai Season 4 might seem separate at first.
But what he eventually becomes is crucial in changing the perspective of one of the other characters so it’s all connected and deeply moving and very well thought out which leads me to my favorite character hawk well now that he’s a good guy again or on the good side at least it’s tough for hawk to find where he fits in throughout this new season.
It may seem like the writers no longer know what to do with hawk but trust me when I say if you are as big a fan of hawk as I am just stick it out and stay with it because your patience will be rewarded hawk’s road to redemption will blow your freaking minds.
So that’s it that’s all I can say about Cobra Kai Season 4 without getting myself in trouble with Netflix in conclusion this is yet another incredible season even the fight choreographies in the tournament scenes are more complex this time around and it leaves you with yet another surprising cliffhanger this new season sets the bar even higher it’s the perfect blend of action drama and comedy and it never ceases to amaze me that the show’s trajectory only goes up and up and up
